Virginia City Camel Races

The small mountain town of Virginia City, NV was once a booming mining town that brought thousands of people out to the west. Known for the Comstock Load, one of the largest silver deposits in Northern America this little town was the place to be. In 1859, it was one of the largest city between Denver and San Francisco.

It is home to Mackay Mansion, famous for much paranormal activity. And we will tour that-

And some of the oldest hotels in Nevada -

The town as many variety stores and a shooting gallery-

The shopping is interesting-

Catering to everyone -

There was a live Wild West show and a fantastic Fire Engine Museum-

The cemetery is spectacular- with great finds-

But what brought us to Virginia City this weekend were the International Camel Races-

Ostrich Racing

Zebra Racing

And all the fun things that go along with such activities-

And, of course, corn dogs -

Davis Fire -

Coming down from the races we got another evaluation notice- the fire has now hopped over into Arrowcreek and I’ve family and friends camped out at my house. Almost 5000 acres are burned down, people are out of power, the fire department is going door to door to make people leave. It’s something- thanks to everyone - πŸ«ΆπŸ’•
