Happy New Year’s Eve

Image
Today is the day we all make our New Year’s resolution. Many of us will give up something, carbs, sweets, alcohol. Some of us will exercise more. Some of us will promise to take accountability for our actions.  But today we party. Coming down from prime rib, lamb, pork ribs, steaks is hard. Before we do it, let’s celebrate the end of this year with pizza and beer.  What’s your favorite pie? Are you thick crust, cheesy, satay, and oozing with goo! Or are you a thin crust lover savoring the deliciousness of toppings over the bread?  Do you prefer meat lovers? Everything? Chicken Alfredo? Hawaiian?? Maybe you’re the wild Thai pizza eater…  And which beer goes best with which pizza? Well, I found a guide! You tell me what you think of these pairings.    MEAT LOVERS:  So much meat, so little time…reach for a dark smoked beer in this situation to give the various toppings a more authentic smoky backbone.  Schlenkerla Marzen  has an aroma of bacon and char and finishes with a roasty sweetness

Delicia Drench Body Butter

Image
Delicia Drench Butter by Sol de Janeiro is their follow up blockbuster body cream to Brazilian Bum Bum cream, an amazing product by the way, but legend has it, while it smells absolutely delicious it also attracts wolf-spiders.  Yes, Delicia Drench may bring the men and the spiders running to eat you. According to Reddit users the combination of two chemicals mimic spider pheromones. Of course, these mysterious chemicals aren’t listed on the packaging but hidden in the super secret fragrance make-up, buried deep within the cream, adding a layer to this mysterious spider aphrodisiac. The hope of attracting Spidey has some women clamoring for more, while others are decidedly turned off. Either way, Delicia Drench is the stuff of legends.

Black-Eyed Peas

Image
Black-eyed peas for New Year’s is a traditional must-do if you wish to start the new year with wealth and luck. According to south legend, eating black eyed peas will bring you all the magic needed to start off your year. Traditional they are served with collard greens, which will bring you a healthy New Year. As legend has it, serving them with cornbread might even bring you a bit of gold. I found this interesting take in the NYTimes if eating straight black-eyed peas isn’t your thing.   The chef Pierre Thiam puts a twist on these traditional Senegalese accara, or black-eyed pea fritters. They are sold on street corners throughout West Africa, usually on fresh baguettes as a sandwich. But Mr. Thiam treats them a bit like falafel and stuffs them into fresh pita bread instead. The spicy pickled carrots he uses as a condiment are based on a recipe from his Vietnamese godfather. Accara are deliciously light and fairly addictive, and they make a great snack with drinks. — David Tanis 1 cup

Do you know a Furry?

Image
Who are Furries? According to WebMD, furries make up a group of people who find sexual gratification from dressing up as animals. They enjoy animals acting in human-like behavior, and identity with animals as a way to communicate with one another, sometimes leading to sexual exploration. “ Furries are people who have an interest in anthropomorphic animals, or animals with human qualities. Many furries create their own animal character, known as a fursona, which functions as their avatar within furry communities.”  They have an affinity for animal- human like creatures and animals behaving in human manners.   Furries represent their fursonas through art, writing, online identities, or in the creation of “fursuits,” which are elaborate costumes depicting the individual’s animal. Some fursuits are full costumes, while others are partial, including animal ears, tails, or gloves.-WebMD " Sex is just one part of their lives, as it is for you. One furry told me he puts his fursuit on b

No Labels- Sabatoge!

Image
No Labels is gearing up to run a 3rd party candidate. Who is No Labels? It is a 3rd party organization made up of both moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans who feel betrayed by both parties. Their mission statement is to offer voters another choice, a choice without labels. They often quote George Washington, who famously disliked the idea of political parties and felt they weakened the political system. Founded by ex Democrat Sen Joe Lieberman, who famously ran as VP with Al Gore, only to be sabotaged by 3rd party candidate, Ralph Nader and two Republican governors, Larry Hogan of Maryland and Pat McCrory of North Carolina. They wants to put America before politics. They believe in "healthy political discourse" and "principled debate" which leads to bipartisan agreement.  Lieberman is facing massive criticism from the left for launching a 3rd party candidate at a time Democrats claim democracy is under attack by a dictator. But Lieberman counters this, &qu

Victorian Christmas Cards

Image
Why were Victorian Christmas cards to bizarre?  According to the Museum of London, who has a whopping 800 Victorian card collection, the answer is simple. People of the time enjoyed pranks, puns, and riddles which they often included in their cards. While most Victorian cards contained birds , or flower imagery, human-like animals and people pulling pranks or jokes were also popular.  The first Christmas card was created in 1843 by John Coalloy Horsely. Cards became more affordable to the masses thanks to increased technology with printing. Valentines became quite fashionable and soon caught on as a fun way to communicate at Christmas.  Maybe it’s time we bring back some of these clever macabre cards? They very best the nonsense hallmark put out.

Dear Santa...MiniCows Mini Donkey

Image
Dear Santa,      All I want for Christmas is a miniature Highland cow. These cows remain about 36-42 inches and weigh 500-700 pounds. You get to play with them like Golden Retrievers. Some people even bring them into their houses to live, just like dogs! Yes, that is right you can potty train your mini cow, in fact, from the sounds of this video soon all farmers might be required to train their cows to pee inside! But look how adorable these things are! I think everyone in this world will eventually want a minicow  So, dear Santa, just one cow and maybe one mini donkey...

Volcanoes

Image
While scientists say the volcano erupting on Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsula is starting to diminish, that does not mean the risk is over. There are currently three vents of lava pushing through a crack that is about 2 miles long, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office. It warned Tuesday that  more vents could still open up  “along the original fissure as well as further north or south.” The volcano erupted about 1.8 miles away from the town of Grindavík — an area where residents were  evacuated from their homes  earlier this year in anticipation of the eruption. Iceland’s Civil Protection Agency previously said the magma tunnel that is forming could reach Grindavik, but it didn’t know where the magma might break through. The IMO said there were about 90 minutes between the “first indicators and the start of the eruption” on Monday and said that any window of warning for new vents opening could be short. Jess Phoenix, a volcanologist and geologist, echoed that sentiment of unpr
