State judge in Illinois ruled Wednesday that Donald Trump had engaged in insurrection and was therefore ineligible to participate in upcoming primary. His name was ordered to be removed from primary ballots. Judge Tracie  Porter stated the State Board of Elections had erred in rejecting claims to attempt to remove former President Trump and reversed the decision.  Her ruling overturned an unanimous decision bipartisan decision by the State Board of Elections.   In her ruling, Judge Porter said she “realizes the magnitude of this decision” and its “impact on the upcoming primary Illinois elections.” But, she added, Mr. Trump was ineligible “based on engaging in insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, and his name should be removed from the ballot.” NYT This adds pressure to the SCOTUS to rule quickly on whether or not Trump can be removed from ballots but may not be quick enough to prevent damage from Illinois primary March 19. 

Representative Ro Khanna of California proclaimed President Joe Biden cannot win Michigan unless he shifts policy on Gaza. That was the messaging has he campaigned for Biden ahead of today’s primary. Democrats are waking up to the realization the party is facing a massive divide among the base. The administration recently rolled back Trump era guidelines which recognized Jewish settlements in West Bank, declaring them a violation of international law. But will that shift to the left be enough to appease the left flank of the party which has declared Israel’s actions in Gaza has genocide?  Samatha Power, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, and also one of the leading experts on genocide, faced walk-outs by her own staff.   Ezra Klein of the NYTimes recently suggested in his podcast President Biden step down in August at the DNC National Convention allowing for a brokered convention. He was not the first to suggest this was the safest way to persevere his legacy and sidestep Democrats sticky Harris issue-  How can they possibly get around the most unlikeable VP in history without also upsetting African American voters? They are not going to turn out to vote for him. This does not necessarily mean they will vote for Trump but they are unwilling to vote for Biden, either.   Did you know Oklahoma introduced a shell bill to allow the hunting of Bigfoot? That is right, Sarah McMammon introduced Bigfoot hunting season, offering a reward of $25,000 for the capture of Bigfoot, in 2021. At that point there had already been 106 sightings of Bigfoot in Oklahoma. In the town of Honobia, Oklahoma, it is actually illegal to harass Bigfoot if you stumble across him, or her, while camping, or hiking. They take Bigfoot very seriously in Honobia. They even have an entire festival dedicated to Bigfoot. Why is that?
