Know as the finest ryokan in all of Kyoto, guests describe Tawaraya like experiencing a time-before. If you dream of living like a shogun era samurai, this ryokan is a must stay in Japan- even for one night.

Are the Japanese xenophobic as Biden claims? And are their economic woes due to shunning immigrants as Biden claims?

Some Japanese lawmakers reacted with confusion with Biden’s statements on social media pointing to NY: 

"I hope that President Biden will solve the problem in New York before he says things like this. Depending on the presidential election, there could be a 180-degree change in policy, and there is no need for Japan to follow suit." said Mizuho Umemura, a member of the conservative Nippon Ishin no Kai Party who holds a seat in the House of Councilors.

Fellow House of Councilors member and leader of the right-wing populist Sansei Party Sohei Kamiya was more direct, writing that U.S. "failures" caused by immigration contribute to Japan's hesitance to embrace similar practices.

"It's not that we're xenophobic, we are being cautious after seeing your failures," Kamiya said. "You are meddling too much in our internal affairs."

Speaking of meddling too much in internal affairs, Niger Junita calls in Russian troops to replace US troops-

Financier Ross Stevens Threatens Rescind $100 M Gift Unless Magill Ousted

 Continuing yesterdays discussion on free speech on college campuses, after Rep Elise Stefanik's grilling of Penn president Liz Magill went viral, founder and chief executive officer of Stone Ridge Holding Group, announced to Penn he would rescind  $100 million gift if university did not replace Magill.  According to WSJ sources, some board members met virtually after meeting with Ross due to the evolving controversy, although no formal vote was cast. Most attendees were overwhelmingly supportive of Magill according to WSJ.  However, there is growing public criticism from both left and right against all three presidents involved in yesterdays panel to congress.
